Spring Elections 2012

Written by Joe Sutherland on .

Elections for the 2012-2013 CS40 Executives begin Wednesday 3/28 and end at 5 pm on Thursday 3/29. Residents of the South 40 will be emailed a link to vote. See below the candidates statements.

Speaker: Asriel Barker and Marli Komarek

Hello CS40 residents,

My name is Asriel Barker and I am running for your CS40 Speaker. I have three years of experience serving on college councils. One here at WashU, and two serving at two separate Los Rios Community Colleges in California.

My platform for Speaker includes the following points:
~~More community involvement! As speaker, I pledge to be more informed about events on campus that South40 residents can take part in. My job is to act as the South40’s voice and ears.
~~Unify the South40 by working with all board members in order to bring fun and meaningful events to all our residents.
~~What do you want me to do? As Speaker, I pledge to pay attention to problems that concern you, a member of the South40. I will be open to all suggestions, and I hope to make you proud of CS40.

Thank you very much! Asriel Barker

Hello!

My name is Marli Komarek, and I am running for the office of Speaker of the Congress of the South 40. I’ve had a blast being the Vice President of RUSoFo’s College Council, and have already met so many people as a part of CS40. As a Vice President, I am familiar with all the inner workings of CS40. I’ve already gained so much from participating in CS40 that I want to make it even more a part of my life, which is why I am running for Speaker. I am very hardworking, dedicated, and determined, while keeping always trying to keep a smile on my face. I consider myself to be very upbeat, and peppy. So please feel free to say hi if you see me on campus! If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.

Thank you so much!

Director of Development: Adam Metts

Hey guys, I’m Adam Metts, and I’m running for Director of Development of CS40. The main job associated with this position is to oversee Development Board, which “relates to the advancement of the WashU campus and the St. Louis cultures and environments.” My aim in running for this position is to continue the great work in programming that past execs and chairs have put into place, such as the CS40 retreat and Safe Trick or Treat; to develop the projects that are happening now, like improving student contact with the Office of Undergraduate Research and helping students break the “WashU bubble” to experience St. Louis culture; and to start new initiatives, including co-programming with other student groups to promote community on the Forty and overseeing programs to benefit greater St Louis. Please contact me if you have suggestions on how we can make life on the Forty sweeter!

Director of Services: Victoria Hulsing

Hi, I am Victoria Hulsing and I am running for CS40 Director of Services. If elected for this position I will weekly oversee the services board meeting. As a part of the services board this year, I have noticed aspects done well and some done poorly. Since I have an understanding how services board is organized, I will be able to incorporate what changes need to be made in order to make services board more successful next year. Another responsibility of my position will be to design South 40 week. I promise to bring a phenomenal speaker to campus for South 40 week and coordinate all of the week's activities to the best of my ability. Vote me for CS40 Director of Services for a fun filled Fall 2012-Spring 2013!

Director of Finance: Hamilton Cook and Claire Ryan

Hi, my name is Hamilton Cook and I am running for CS40 Director of Finance this year. During my time at WashU, I have discovered what a wonderful place it is especially the South 40. It helps foster so much unity and friendship among student that we will cherish forever. CS40 is an important tool to help foster that friendship through programming, funding of activities, and orientation. That is why I want to be Director of Finance next year. I will use my experience as WGE College Council Treasurer, where I managed over $8000 this past year, to help make sure that we make orientation great for the new freshman, provide awesome programming throughout the year, and make sure that we are able to continue having WUstock as one of the primer events on campus. So, if you want a great next year on the Forty, vote Hamilton Cook Director of Finance!!

Director of Public Relations: Charlie Beard

Greetings South 40 residents.  I'm Charlie Beard and am running for the Director of Public Relations position.  In this role, I will undertake to inform residents of CS40 programming.  This year, I thoroughly demonstrated this capability; I used image-editing software to make posters used in my residential college, Brookings, and across the 40.  I designed apparel for high school clubs and look forward to collaborating on premium CS40 gear.  Lastly, my enthusiasm will be well-allocated in managing the underpass space, bulletin board and website.  I am excited for another successful year of CS40 events and would like for you to support me in playing a larger role in it.  Thank you for your consideration!
